When working in docks and ports, you’re dealing with a number of potential hazards which require fire suppression systems and control…
From fertilisers to biomass, wood chip and animal feed to name but a few. When you’re also working with cranes and vehicles with high temperature engines, there’s always the potential for fires. And having essential machinery like a straddle carrier out of action for any significant time is simply not an option.
Our expertise can help you stop minor fires becoming serious problems, protecting operators, machinery, ships and containers alike. We have a good understanding and knowledge of the strict procedures and protocols that ports operate under. Being a member of the Port Skills & Safety Group means our fast response times are matched by the correct levels of health & safety expertise.
The port operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week with no room for down time. You have a fleet of 90 vehicles of various types. They are all required to have vehicle fire protection fitted as per the regulations of the port authority. One key machine has a fire in the engine compartment whilst loading in the biomass shed. A short while later another machine has a fault on the fire protection system whilst loading a ship. Both machines are stood still and need to be back in use urgently.
Fire Shield Systems / Dafo UK & Ireland manages entire fleets of vehicles at ports providing 24 hour a day support for urgent call outs to our customers. We will attend sites and rectify issues within the fastest time frame we can. We provide service and maintenance packages to suit the individual needs of our customers.
